Thank You!

It is with a profound sense of pride that I write this message.

I am proud of the hundreds of volunteers – many of them from Sacramento State College Democrats – without whom my campaign would have been hollow. I am grateful to all of you that contributed to my campaign. Mostly, I am humbled by the votes I received on Election Day.

While we came up short of victory, I am sure we had a profound effect on the outcome of the election. I am proud of the honesty and issue-focused campaign we ran.

Tuesday’s defeat does not mean we stop our fight for jobs, social justice, education as an inalienable civil right and protecting the most vulnerable amongst us. What it means is we must seek to affect the change we want to see in different ways.

Congratulations to Supervisor Roger Dickinson. As of the time I am writing this, it appears he has pulled ahead and will be declared the ultimate victor when all the votes are counted…and they will be counted! I ask all of you who supported me to join him in his fight to protect Sacramento.

Congratulations also to Dr. Richard Pan. His victory on June 8 gives Democrats our best chance of picking up the 5th Assembly District.

The race for the 9th Assembly District is now decided, every Sacramento Democrat ought to commit, RIGHT NOW, to joining Dr. Pan in his fight against the worst civil rights violator since Alabama Governor George Wallace stood in the school house door and declared segregation forever. Andy Pugno must not be allowed to bring his fear mongering and hate to the California State Capitol…Sacramento deserves better representatives.

Finally, I have to thank my wife, Lesley, for her unwavering love and support. She is my rock and my partner in all things. It is because of her I am the man I am.

In Unity,

Chris Garland
